One of the main reasons to visit Under The Waterberries campsite is the unbelievable fauna and flora found on the Soutpansberg Mountain range. Is does not matter is you are a fanatic birder, botanist or just a large mammal seeker, you will not be disappointed.
The beauty of this area is that many species found here are completely unexpected or entirely endemic to the Soutpansberg. An example of an unexpected species is the Knysna turaco (Tauraco corythaix) which is found in a yellow wood forest on the Southern side of the mountain. Some of the endemic species (there are 34 in total) include Aloe angelica and the Soutpansberg flat lizard (Platysaurus relictus)
Of course we know that the larger mammals are what most people head out into the bush to see, and once again we are confident that you will not be disappointed. Check out our mammal list.
